About Springboard

The most important thing: it’s free

You won’t owe us anything. It’s different, but yes, we really aren’t asking for equity, and there’s no nasty fine print. We want to work with smart, exciting people.

This should turn out great for you and be really interesting for us.

There’s no legal hassle. None.

We think you should focus on making your product, and we want to help you do that hassle-free. To prove it, we’re not going to require that you have a company formed, or try to take investment right at the start.

If you’re already incorporated, that’s great. But if not then there are reasons you might want to wait a while before deciding on equity splits.  Smarter people than us can explain why.

These kinds of conversations between founders aren’t easy but if you’re able to have them constructively, that says something about the strength of the team.

Obviously there’s a lot of trust required on our part, doing this without an army of lawyers. But that’s what all great relationships are based on.

We’re hoping we can trust you too.  Maybe everyone will think we’re crazy and naïve, but we remember what it was like getting started and we think we’re doing everyone a favour by leaving the legal stuff until later.

Speakers, training, and support

We’re pulling together a great line up of speakers over the  programme, plus sessions on product management and sales. Everything you need to give your business the best possible start.

Who are we looking for?

Teams who want to build great software products.

Ideally these will be in markets similar to Red Gate’s because that’s where we can provide the most expertise.  Specifically, that means markets where the customers are other businesses, rather than consumers. But we’re open-minded and will consider whatever you come up with.

Obviously, you’ll need to come to Cambridge for the full duration because that’s the best way we can help you. The ecosystem here is great and we’ve already got a bunch of start-ups who can offer you their own take.
